Emir Van Guz

Emir Van Guz is an artist living in the US. He was born in Tbilisi, Georgia to an art family and began drawing, painting and sculpting at an early age. His family migrated to the United States and settled down in Richmond, Virginia. Emir painted all throughout his youth learning from his father and from the works of past great artists. The Impressionist period particularly fascinated him. His favorite artists include Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh, Frans Hals, Henri Matisse, Mary Cassatt and Nico Pirosmani. Emir took a break from art and attended Virginia Commonwealth University to get a Bachelors in Kinesiology and afterwards a Doctor of Physical Therapy. After working as a Physical Therapist for a few years, he returned full time to being an artist. Emir focuses on impressionist style artwork, working in various mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels and ink. The main subjects for his artwork include landscapes, still lives, portraits and various unique compositions. Besides painting, Emir also sculpts, produces music and writes short stories.
